Ricky Dene Gervais (born 25 June 1961) is an English comedian, actor, director, radio presenter, producer, musician, and writer.

Gervais achieved mainstream fame with his television series The Office and the subsequent series Extras, both of which he co-wrote and co-directed with friend and frequent collaborator Stephen Merchant. In addition to writing and directing the shows, Gervais also played the lead roles of David Brent in The Office and Andy Millman in Extras. Gervais has also starred in a number of Hollywood films, assuming leading roles in Ghost Town and The Invention of Lying. He has performed on four sell-out stand-up comedy tours, written the best-selling Flanimals book series and starred with Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington in the most downloaded podcast in the world as of March 2009, The Ricky Gervais Show.

He has won multiple awards and honours, including seven BAFTA Awards, five British Comedy Awards, two Emmy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards and the 2006 Rose d'Or, as well as a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination. In 2007 he was voted the 11th greatest stand-up comic on Channel 4's 100 Greatest Stand-Ups and again in the updated 2010 list as the 3rd greatest stand-up comic. In 2010 he was named on the TIME 100 list of the world's most influential people. In 2010, Gervais became the first British person to host the Golden Globe Awards in 14 years; he returned to host in 2011 and is signed on to host in 2012.

In this personal narrative of the evolution of his faith, Ricky Gervais describes how and why he became an atheist.

Clinton Richard Dawkins, FRS, FRSL (born 26 March 1941), known as Richard Dawkins, is a British ethologist, evolutionary biologist and author. He is an emeritus fellow of New College, Oxford, and was the University of Oxford's Professor for Public Understanding of Science from 1995 until 2008.

While many in the scientific community are excited at the prospect of battling aging, Richard Dawkins considers the idea foolish and a little presumptuous asking, are we really prepared to be the last generation to reproduce?

Check out the rest of Richard Dawkins' interview at

Dawkins came to prominence with his 1976 book The Selfish Gene, which popularised the gene-centered view of evolution and introduced the term meme. In 1982 he introduced an influential concept into evolutionary biology, presented in his book The Extended Phenotype, that the phenotypic effects of a gene are not necessarily limited to an organism's body, but can stretch far into the environment, including the bodies of other organisms.

Dawkins is an atheist and humanist, a Vice President of the British Humanist Association and supporter of the Brights movement. He is well known for his criticism of creationism and intelligent design. In his 1986 book The Blind Watchmaker, he argued against the watchmaker analogy, an argument for the existence of a supernatural creator based upon the complexity of living organisms. Instead, he described evolutionary processes as analogous to a blind watchmaker. He has since written several popular science books, and makes regular television and radio appearances, predominantly discussing these topics. In his 2006 book The God Delusion, Dawkins contends that a supernatural creator almost certainly does not exist and that religious faith is a delusion—a fixed false belief. As of January 2010 the English-language version has sold more than two million copies and had been translated into 31 languages.

The Zeitgeist Movement is a global sustainability activist group working to bring the world together for the common goal of species sustainability before it is too late. It is a social movement, not a political one, with over 1100 chapters across nearly all countries. Divisive notions such as nations, governments, races, political parties, religions, creeds or class are non-operational distinctions in the view of The Movement. Rather, we recognize the world as one system and the human species as a singular unit, sharing a common habitat. Our overarching intent could be summarized as 'the application of the scientific method for social concern.

On January 1st, 2012 sometime between 1:00 am
and 1:30 am, I was driving my friend home from
a New Years Eve party. I was the designated
driver and was sober. We pulled into the 7-11 on
Lamar & West 10th in Austin TX to get gas, and
we saw ourselves near a car that was pulled over
with two police cruisers behind it. A black woman
was being given a field sobriety test in the cold.
She seemed to be getting bossed around by the
cops, and we both took notice. They had her doing
the heel to toe test in high heels. In the passenger
seat was a young Hispanic lady who appeared to
be on her phone.
She was doing nothing aggressive.

As we finished pumping gas, a cop had gone over
to the passenger side door and opened it.
Soon after we heard a terrible scream and watched
in horror as the very built cop started yanking this
poor girl from the car. The other cop came up
and joined in on the abuse.

My friend and I stayed within two arms lengths of
the truck, and tried to take pictures and yelled at the
cops to stop assaulting the girl.

After that, one cop came up to me yelling at me and
asking why I was taking pictures. I said it was my
right in public, and he pushed me into the truck and
started yelling in my face. I asked him why he
pushed me, I put up my arms to show I wasn't a
threat, told him to get out of my face, and that I had
done nothing illegal. He then grabbed my arm, and
pinned me against the truck, at which time
he claimed I "spit" on him.

They arrested me, claimed it was for "interfering
with an investigation". By the time I got to their
truck, it was a DUI and they made me blow. It didn't
register, and by the time I got to jail it was then a
"felony harassment" and a "resisting arrest" charge.

The woman was arrested for "public intoxication".
The cops said that she was interfering with their DUI
investigation because she yelled to her friend not to
submit to any tests. Interestingly, neither of us was
charged with interfering in an investigation.

Statement from Antonio Buehler.

Who is Antonio F. Buehler? – Managing Director

Antonio is the Founder and Managing Director of Trophy Point Capital. Antonio is a proven leader who has overcome many obstacles to lead various organizations to new levels of excellence.

Raised in a single-parent household in an Eastern Pennsylvania coal mining town, Antonio Buehler was the first in his family to graduate from high school. He attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, and then, as a U.S. Army officer, Antonio completed six months of Airborne Ranger training where he honed the leadership skills and discipline that he had developed at West Point. In his first operational unit, he led the turnaround of two underperforming 27-soldier platoons in Kosovo and Germany. Antonio subsequently turned around the administration and logistics of a 67-soldier company, and executed the movement of thousands of U.S. soldiers from Europe and the United States to Iraq. Then, in a position normally reserved for senior officers with much more experience, Antonio solved critical supply shortages for the U.S. Army in the early days of the Iraq war. These tasks involved dealing with numerous American military units, foreign militaries, civilian contractors from half a dozen nations, and Shia, Sunni and Kurdish Iraqis. Antonio was commended for his actions and awarded a Bronze Star.

After the military Antonio received his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he interned as a private equity professional, technology consultant, and investment management consultant. After business school he worked as an investment banking Associate in the Financial Restructuring Group of Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin, where he advised two distressed middle-market companies. Antonio conducted due diligence and performed financial analyses to determine various strategic options available to the companies, including financings, restructurings, and sales to financial or strategic buyers. Antonio raised over $260 million in financing and redeemed $240 million in debt.

Antonio’s philanthropic activities focus on helping disadvantaged youth. He is a board member of A Caring Hand, a New York based non-profit focused on child bereavement. He also ran a program to clothe children in war-torn Kosovo, volunteered at a Bulgarian orphanage, coached high school football in Germany, mentored children in the United States, and sponsors three African children through Plan USA. Antonio covers Congressional Districts NY-8 and NY-9 as a Field Force Representative for the West Point Department of Admissions. He also serves on the Board of Governors for the West Point Society of New York.

Who We Are

Trophy Point Capital is a private investment firm established specifically to make long-term majority investments in privately held middle-market education companies. Trophy Point Capital is backed by a world class team of investors and advisors who collectively have decades of experience investing in, operating and growing hundreds of companies. This team includes successful executives of businesses ranging from start-ups to Fortune 20 companies, entrepreneurs, and private equity investment professionals.

What We Do

We invest in highly profitable education companies that are well-positioned for continued success. We take an active management role in the companies in which we invest, which allows us to provide attractive alternatives for entrepreneurs who are seeking to transition out of their business while ensuring the successful continuation of their legacy. It also positions us to be the ideal equity partner for owners who realize that additional management and a professional, active board can take the company to the next level. Additionally, unlike other private equity firms, we do not have defined holding periods for our investments, and our bias is to compound our principal, not quickly “flip” a company. Our team is focused on building long-term sustainable companies that create significant value for their community, employees, and shareholders.

This result enables a flexible form factor, not to mention a less costly, alternative to traditional OLED manufacturing, which currently relies on rigid glass.

The results are reported online in the latest issue of Nature Photonics.

OLEDs provide high-contrast and low-energy displays that are rapidly becoming the dominant technology for advanced electronic screens. They are already used in some cell phone and other smaller-scale applications.

Current state-of-the-art OLEDs are produced using heavy-metal doped glass in order to achieve high efficiency and brightness, which makes them expensive to manufacture, heavy, rigid and fragile.

"For years, the biggest excitement behind OLED technologies has been the potential to effectively produce them on flexible plastic," says Materials Science & Engineering Professor Zheng-Hong Lu, the Canada Research Chair (Tier I) in Organic Optoelectronics.

Using plastic can substantially reduce the cost of production, while providing designers with a more durable and flexible material to use in their products.

The research, which was supervised by Professor Lu and led by PhD Candidates Zhibin Wang and Michael G. Helander, demonstrated the first high-efficiency OLED on plastic. The performance of their device is comparable with the best glass-based OLEDs, while providing the benefits offered by using plastic.

"This discovery, unlocks the full potential of OLEDs, leading the way to energy-efficient, flexible and impact-resistant displays," says Professor Lu.

Wang and Helander were able to re-construct the high-refractive index property previously limited to heavy metal-doped glass by using a 50-100 nanometre thick layer of tantalum(V) oxide (Ta2O5), an advanced optical thin-film coating material. This advanced coating technique, when applied on flexible plastic, allowed the team to build the highest-efficiency OLED device ever reported with a glass-free design.

The results of Wang and Helander's work titled "Unlocking the Full Potential of Organic Light-Emitting Diodes on Flexible Plastic" are published online in the journal Nature Photonics.

The Man Who Was Thursday: A Nightmare is a novel by G. K. Chesterton, first published in 1908. The book is sometimes referred to as a metaphysical thriller.

Plot summary

In Edwardian era London, Gabriel Syme is recruited at Scotland Yard to a secret anti-anarchist police corps. Lucian Gregory, an anarchistic poet, lives in the suburb of Saffron Park. Syme meets him at a party and they debate the meaning of poetry. Gregory argues that revolt is the basis of poetry. Syme demurs, insisting that the essence of poetry is not revolution, but rather law. He antagonizes Gregory by asserting that the most poetical of human creations is the timetable for the London Underground. He suggests that Gregory isn't really serious about his anarchism. This so irritates Gregory that he takes Syme to an underground anarchist meeting place, revealing that his public endorsement of anarchy is a ruse to make him seem harmless, when in fact he is an influential member of the local chapter of the European anarchist council.

The central council consists of seven men, each using the name of a day of the week as a code name, and the position of Thursday is about to be elected by Gregory's local chapter. Gregory expects to win the election, but just before the election Syme reveals to Gregory after an oath of secrecy that he is a secret policeman. Fearful Syme may use his speech in evidence of a prosecution, Gregory's weakened words fail to convince the local chapter that he is sufficiently dangerous for the job. Syme makes a rousing anarchist speech and wins the vote. He is sent immediately as the chapter's delegate to the central council.

In his efforts to thwart the council's intentions, however, Syme discovers that five of the other six members are also undercover detectives; each was employed just as mysteriously and assigned to defeat the Council. They all soon find out that they were fighting each other and not real anarchists; such was the mastermind plan of their president Sunday. In a surreal conclusion, Sunday himself is unmasked as only seeming to be terrible; in fact, he is a force of good like the detectives. However, he is unable to give an answer to the question of why he caused so much trouble and pain for the detectives. Gregory, the only real anarchist, seems to challenge the good council. His accusation is that they, as rulers, have never suffered like Gregory and their other subjects, and so their power is illegitimate. However, Syme is able to refute this accusation immediately because of the terrors inflicted by Sunday on the rest of the council.

The dream ends when Sunday himself is asked if he has ever suffered. His last words, "can ye drink of the cup that I drink of?", is the question that Jesus asks St. James and St. John in the Gospel of Mark, chapter 10, vs 38–39, to challenge their commitment in becoming his disciples.

A video that sort of highlights a persons opinion on how the US Government is treating it's voters. Thoughts?

Ron Paul is America's leading voice for limited, constitutional government, low taxes, free markets, sound money, and a pro-America foreign policy.

"Israel was born out of Jewish Terrorism" Tzipi Livnis Father was a Terrorist" Astonishing claims in the House of Parliament. SIR Gerald Kaufman, the veteran Labour MP, yesterday compared the actions of Israeli troops in Gaza to the Nazis who forced his family to flee Poland.

During a Commons debate on the fighting in Gaza, he urged the government to impose an arms embargo on Israel.

Sir Gerald, who was brought up as an orthodox Jew and Zionist, said: "My grandmother was ill in bed when the Nazis came to her home town a German soldier shot her dead in her bed.

"My grandmother did not die to provide cover for Israeli soldiers murdering Palestinian grandmothers in Gaza. The present Israeli government ruthlessly and cynically exploits the continuing guilt from gentiles over the slaughter of Jews in the Holocaust as justification for their murder of Palestinians."

He said the claim that many of the Palestinian victims were militants "was the reply of the Nazi" and added: "I suppose the Jews fighting for their lives in the Warsaw ghetto could have been dismissed as militants."

He accused the Israeli government of seeking "conquest" and added: "

They are not simply war criminals, they are fools."

Dubbed "Sliding Hub," these prefabricated cubes join together to create a temporary housing solution for multiple situations.

In the event that emergency shelters are required, the modules can be packed and transported to any destination. On arrival, the modules are easily joined together, with the flexibility to house individuals, small groups or large numbers without limitation. Each module incorporates an insulation system suitable for all kinds of weather conditions. In addition, the temporary accommodation units provide a comfortable standard of living, important to natural disaster victims.

Constructed with steel reinforcements, numerous modules can be assembled together to create various sizes and shapes, whilst sliding them open creates large internal spaces. According to Aramu, the system can be configured 64 different ways, whilst clever interior furnishing units transform rooms into a bathroom, kitchen or living room within minutes.

Aramu envisioned the Sliding Hub project for rural conditions and nomadic communities, however the sleek design would also be suitable for an urban setting. It's not hard to imagine these pods being used for temporary offices, film set trailers, festival events, portable holiday accommodation or simply as a cost-effective housing solution.
