It appears that most solutions offered in the world today are framed within the current social order and its practices.
For example, there are over 1 billion people starving in the world and the most common solutions sought tend to utilize money in some fashion to enable the resources needed.
TZM takes a very different view. Rather than take each problem on a per case basis and work to solve that problem within the confines of the custom accepted system - a system that might, in fact, be creating the problem itself - TZM steps back to consider the inherent logic of the issues themselves and how they relate to the emerging Scientific Benchmark (with respect to The Scientific Method), absent respect for social tradition and custom.
In the case of 1 Billion people starving, the solution does not rest with the need for more donations, more governmental subsides or even legislation to limit possible causal abuse and exploitation of such regions (as those are not direct solutions since they do not relate to the mechanics of survival). Rather they relate and intermediate with current social customs.
The real issue and hence logic is Technical - not political or financial. Starvation is a technical problem when clean, life supporting resources are not made available to a certain region for some reason. The question is then asked: Is there an empirical environmental restriction which is making those resources unavailable? The answer today is a clear no. It is well noted by the W.H.O. and others that there is plenty of food being produced in the world to feed everyone and we also have clear technical means to also desalinate and clean polluted water to make it safe for drinking. This can be done on an industrial scale.
The Financial Approach clearly has an inherent flaw which is not enabling these basic life supporting attributes and resources to be made available to 1 billion people. It is economically inefficient, when considering the true sense of the definition of "economics".
The Technical Approach, which proves that these things are, indeed, possible, where no one would ever have to starve, says- if it is possible to do it, then we need to simply figure out a new way to do it and bypass the current social custom if need be.
As is common within much of The Zeitgeist Movement materials we see the financial structure, as a whole, as being a foundational cause of most of the world's issues - with the Technical Reality of what is possible as an approach to the solution. It is based upon Scientific Causality, not Financial Causality. In a world of extreme advancement in information and mechanical technology, the great realization is that we can do much more than ever to meet the needs of the human population along with generating a logic where most of the environmental and social issues we face today would be gone tomorrow if we simply applied our updated understandings now.
TZM is very different from the majority of Activist Communities or Political/Social Movement's today due to the way it views the majority of the societal problems common to the world.
In short, the Social System itself is considered the root cause, with Human Behavior and its resulting effects - corruption, pollution, wars, waste, exploitation and hence distortion of values and psychology - seen as symptoms of this fundamental root source.
Modern psychological and sociological study has found that human actions are susceptible to environmental influence. What is rewarded by the culture tends to be perpetuated. For example, it is commonly considered a "moral" issue when a corporation engages in deliberate pollution to save money. Many outcry that the corporation's people must be "corrupt" who would allow for such a thing. The flaw, however, is in the assumption. If we exist in a system that allows us to "save money" and hence be more "economically efficient" by being exploitation, abusive or indifferent, why should we not expect it to occur, especially in a system based on competition where advantage is always sought?
In other words, "corruption" is being reinforced. Therefore the solution is not more "laws" to try and stop this behavior. The solution is to create a social system that doesn't reinforce or reward such behavior at all. Laws are mere "patches" that work against the internal logic of the system as it stands.
And while TZM does have Food Drives and other programs working to ease the stress that is inherent to our current social model (which is, again, considered the fundamental cause of the 1 billion starving, unemployment, the depletion of resources and outrageous amounts of pollution and waste), it does not consider such actions as solutions for these only address "symptoms". We see the shift of the social system as the true needed fix, hence changing people's values and behaviors.
Much more could be said on this issue. Please review our materials for more examples of how the current social order - specifically economic - is the root cause of the majority of our problems and defines our lack of sustainability.
"The Movement" The Movement, as an entity, consists of the global Chapter set, usually comprising City, State, and Nation. While The Movement is global, by definition, Chapters are what comprise the physical presence of The Zeitgeist Movement in form. To be apart of The Movement is to be a part of your regional Chapter at the lowest degree of operation in your area, hence becoming part of the whole.
"Members" For a person to be technically considered a Member of The Zeitgeist Movement they must be active in a Chapter. If a Chapter doesn't exist in their respective region, a prospective Member would found one. This is very simple in its preliminary stages as all it requires is a website or community group of any kind/size. It has to start somewhere.
"Chapters" Chapters are regional Zeitgeist Movement Member groups, organized in Tiers.
From "Top to Bottom", the current Chapter Tiers are:
International—[ Countries ] State/Province—[ Next lower degree regional distinctions within a given Country ] City/Town—[ Next lower degree regional distinctions within a given State or Province ] Chapters need to have the ability enable communication among its Members, along with other Chapters. As a Chapter grows, periodic Meetings should be conducted in live and/or virtual (online) settings along with taking part in regional or global events and actions.
Chapter Meetings occur in Tiers with the Coordinators meeting on their respective level. For example, the North Carolina State Chapter, assuming no sub-chapters within it, would have a meeting with all NC Members present. However, the meeting of the next largest Tier, the Country level ( USA) the would be only with the Coordinators of each State, not all the Members. This narrowing is for the sake of comprehension as it would be too difficult to have Global Meetings with thousands of Members at once.
"Teams" Groups of Members, organized by Team Coordinators, working with a specific Project or Projects.
Teams generally take two forms : Global Teams and Regional Teams.
Global Teams are teams which work on central Movement Projects which relate to the entire global organization. There are Currently 6 Global Teams and each Team has its own set of participatory guidelines/processes.
LINGUISTIC TEAM DEVELOPER TEAM NEWSLETTER / PRESS RELEASE TEAM MEDIA PROJECT TEAM TECHNOLOGY TEAM LECTURE TEAM Regional Teams are typically independent of global assessment and are created by the Chapter.
"Projects" Any task of relevant interest agreed upon and set forth by a Team, either Regional or Global. These often include Newsletters, Events or Charity actions.
"Coordinators" Member-ed organizers/representatives for each Chapter or Team.
These are the point people and basic operation oversight organizers who work with a Chapter or Team on communication and any related admin issues. They are not to be confused with leaders or authorities [ie "Presidents/Mayors" or "Decision Makers"]. They are equal in relevance to each other Member of the respective Chapter/Team and they are not in a position of final decision making over the Chapter. Rather , they volunteer their time for the sake of relaying consensus information from and to their Chapter/Team, along with often taking the initiative for respective Projects.
Chapter Coordinators are typically the founding party of a given Chapter and they are, of course, volunteers - like everyone else. They have to undergo approval, however, by the next larger degree Coordinator(s). [ ie- if a City Chapter is to be set up, that person is reviewed by the State Coordinator as to the integrity of that new prospect. New Chapter creation is contingent upon the dedication and knowledge shown by the prospective Chapter Coordinator and this is assessed on a per case basis.] This is one of the few cases where the Coordinator of a City/State/Country is required to make a "decision" - in this case about a [sub] Chapter application under their degree. In the event of conflict, the relevant next degree Tier as a whole will work to reach Rational Consensus.
Global Team Coordinators are also not authorities but, again, are rather volunteer helpers to make sure the processes of each team is going smoothly. In the event of problems/conflict, the change of Coordinator(s) of a given Chapter/Team are achieved through both respective Chapter/Team Consensus and International Coordinator assessment. through "Rational Consensus".
"Rational Consensus" Rational Consensus is not to be confused with the historically failed traditional Mob Rule Democratic Process of "one person - one vote". TZM does not condone total, open mob rule democracy as it is based on the faulty assumption that each participating party is educated enough to make the most intellectually appropriate, unbiased decision.
Proper Decision Making has nothing to do with the interests of a group of people, nor the interests of a single person. Proper Decision Making is a purely technical process of logical assessment of a given set of variables and hence can only be based on upon tangible, technical referents - not abject, unsupported mass value opinion, which is what the pure democratic theory erroneously assumes holds integrity. In other words, each argument of a given member must be logically supported by an external referent/set of external referents – clearly reasoned in communication to support the conclusion given. The manifestation of this reasoning could be called a "Case".
Using the example of a Chapter scenario: When a conflict of agreement occurs between the group, the process of Rational Consensus is commenced which requires each conflicting party to present their Case to everyone else. This Case must consist of technically reasoned factors/instances/examples which can be evaluated outside of the expression of the person who is presenting the problem. In other words, insinuation, assumptions and predispositions have no value. If the argument cannot be quantified in some manner - it isn't valid as an argument.
Let's assume a Member has a problem with a Coordinator's actions and would like to see the removal of that Coordinator. Let's assume the Case reasoning is that the Coordinator is not properly representing the interests/ideas of the majority of the group.
In this scenario, a set of technical examples would need to be provided by which the group itself can review. Then a rational "democratic" consensus is made within that group based solely upon the evidence presented - not the expression of any persons themselves. Now, while this process is simple and direct enough - resembling traditional democracy - the decision can still be overridden in the event the conclusions made are suspect as to their technical reasoning by the next tier degree in the Chapter Structure. This extended evaluation is there to protect from erroneous conclusions made by a possibly un-knowledgeable or biased Chapter Membership.
In other words, for example, the removal of a State Chapter Coordinator, while meeting Rational Consensus in the respective Chapter, might still need to meet Rational Consensus on the State Tier on the Structure. [ie. Consensus by all 50 states] to protect against erroneous or biased group decisions or even infiltrations by 3rd parties with the intent of problem generation. Since these situations are very rare and occur usually within very small, lower tier Chapters, the factors which comprise such an intervention naturally exist on a per case basis.
As an aside, it is important to point out that there is nothing to gain personally by being a Coordinator of any Chapter or Team in and of itself. Abuse of this position offers nothing in self-interest return, except perhaps Ego Satisfaction. There is no pay and typically it is a higher stress position due to the responsibility inherent. Many who come from the hyper-democratic conditioning assume that mass consensus is the only thing we can trust while the individual is not trust worthy at all. This cynical view needs to be adjusted to understand that in an environment where a person cannot find reward for their narrow self-interest, they will have no reason typically to perpetuate that narrow self-interest. This is one of the core reasons, as an aside, The Movement operates without money overall - as money always sets the stage for corruption on a basic level, as history has shown.
"Information Relay" [Between Chapter Tiers] Each Chapter Tier has a set Coordinator or set of Coordinators and these Coordinators are only the communicative representative of the interests of that Chapter while, in certain cases, they are needed to assess decisions about Chapter conflicts/appointments in the Tier beneath them [See above]. In all cases, Rational Consensus is the process of decision making and this naturally underscores what we could call "Information Relay" as well.
Information is discussed within each Chapter at their respective periodic meetings, either live or online, with Rational Census being met with regard to any issue of importance. Then a given idea, if relevant to the Global Movement, is set on a course from Bottom to Top through a process of systematic Coordinator representation.
If a City Chapter [ie - Chicago] originates an idea/project which it feels would be applicable to the global whole of The Zeitgeist Movement, that idea is then presented and discussed at the State Level [ie - Illinois], with all other City Chapters.
Once Rational Consensus is met on that level, the State Coordinator brings that idea to the Country Level [ie - USA], where the idea is presented and discussed with all States/Provinces.
Once Rational Consensus is met on that level, the Country Coordinator brings that idea to the International Level [ie - World], where the idea is presented and discussed with all Countries. It is at this level that Rational Consensus would implement the idea.
This is the "Bottom Up" approach. From there, "Top Down" directives can be suggested which affect all Chapter actions. Obviously, there are "middle ground" proposals which will begin not on the "lower" tier level, but on a "mid" or "high" level. In this case, it is the responsibility of each Coordinator of The Movement to communicate the issues presented to their respective Chapters and, if there is conflict, the bottom up approach is instituted again to reach Rational Consensus and hence resolution.
"Fundraising" As a Global Rule, The Movement operates on the basis of Time Dedication and not Monetary Dedication. No chapter is allowed to take direct, Open Donations. Overall, The Movement deliberately operates on a personal contribution, volunteer model. However, there are two basic exceptions. Since the websites cost money to run, simple merchandise is respectable to offer. The Global Website, for example, offers a single Shirt to help offset the administrative and hosting costs. Each Chapter is allowed to also offer a custom Shirt or similar. However, any "excessive" merchandising will be shut down if it presents a case for abuse. Such decisions are made by International/Global Admin Consensus.
The 2nd exception is when a specific temporal project is required which needs funding. Typically, it is expected that such funding will come personally from an individual or set of individuals working with the Chapter directly. In the event that cannot happen, a fully transparent temporary donation system can be put into place to meet the needs of that Project.
The Zeitgeist Movement is an explicitly non-violent, global sustainability advocacy group currently working in over 1000 Regional Chapters across 70 countries. The basic structure of The Movement consists of Chapters, Teams, Projects & Events. Overall, the Chapters are essentially what define the Movement and each Chapter works to not only spread awareness about the roots of our social problems today but also to express the logical, scientific solutions and methods we have at our disposal to update and correct the current social system and create a truly responsible, sustainable, peaceful, global society. Working through global and regional educational projects and community programs, the intermediate goal is to obtain a worldwide movement, essentially unifying the people, regardless of country, religion or political party, with a common value identification that we all invariably share, pertaining to our survival and sustainability.
It is the assumption of The Movement that the educational/activist pressure generated, coupled with what is currently a failing social system, will inhibit and override the established political, commercial and nationalist institutions outright, exposing and resolving the flaws inherent. It is our view that the traditional mediums of politics and commerce as forces for change will not obtain the goals needed to make our social system sustainable and humane for they appear to be born out of the same traditionalist, flawed logic that has created the problems as they stand.
The transitional goal, once such a global presence and pressure is obtained, is to implement an economic model that follows a truly scientific train of thought with respect to the technical factors that allow for human propensity, public health and environment responsibility over generational time. This new model, since it is based upon Resource Management and Natural Law (Science) as the logical starting point for all decisions and processes, is often referred to as a "Resource-Based Economic Model". However, the realization of this direction is not that of an institution but of a train of thought - the train of thought of objectively applying The Scientific Method for Social Concern and allowing its natural emergence to flourish without limitation as new efficiencies present themselves.
General Observations: In the view of The Movement, the society today has become increasingly detached from the physical world, with techniques of production, distribution and social ordering that have little to no relationship to the environment, or the current state of scientific knowledge with respect to public health and sustainability.
Cyclical Consumption For instance, our use of a profit based, "growth" driven monetary system has become one of the greatest destroyers of the natural world and sustainable human values. The entire global economy requires "cyclical consumption" to operate, which means that money must constantly be circulating. Thus, new goods and services must be constantly introduced regardless of the state of the environment and actual human necessity. This "perpetual" approach has a fatal flaw for resources as we know it are simply not infinite. Resources are finite and the Earth is essentially a closed system. To assume the need for constant consumption to keep people employed and hence the market system going is eco-cidal on a finite planet. The true goal of an economy, by definition, is to strategically preserve and create efficiency. The system today demands the opposite.
Infinite Growth The Monetary-Market Model is based upon money being treated as a Commodity and its origination from Debt; sold for Interest Income. This is a "Ponzi Scheme". Each time this Commodity (Money) is sold (Bank Loans) it needs to be paid back (Debt) with more money charged as a fee for profit (Interest). The problem is that the Interest Value required to settle the debt does not exist in the Money Supply outright. In other words, Bankruptcy and Default are not byproducts - they are inevitable – as there is always more debt outstanding than money in existence. This creates severe, offset monetary scarcity that oppresses many people on many levels.
The Value of Scarcity Likewise, the intents inherent within the monetary system derive a strategic edge from scarcity. This means that depleted resources are actually a positive thing for industry in the short term for more money can be made off each respective unit. This is contextual to the monetary law of Supply & Demand and hence "Value" in economics. It creates a perverse reinforcement to ignore environmental problems and the negative consequences that create scarcity; not to mention reinforcing technically unnecessary human deprivation. This system does not/can not meet the needs of the many because it isn't financially efficient to do so.
Problems/Inefficiency = Profit. Similarly, the system also requires problems/constant consumer interest in order to work. The more people who have cancer or cars that breakdown, the better the economy due to the servicing of those problems. Needless to say, this also generates an inherent disregard for human well being and the environment. Sustainability, efficiency, and preservation are the enemies of this model.
Cost Efficiency & Irresponsible Obsolescence There is also the Cost Efficiency mechanism that demands cutting expenses to remain “competitive” in the marketplace. Every single product created by a corporation today is immediately inferior by design for the market requirement to cut creation costs in favor of lowering the output "purchase price" to maintain a competitive edge automatically reduces the quality of any given item by default. It is impossible to create the "strategically best"/long lasting anything in our society, which translates into outrageous amounts of wasted resources and time. Likewise, this same mechanism is reinforcing the environmental disregard, depletion, and pollution that we see as a constant in the world today… among other issues.
Waste & Oppression of the Human Resource As far as Occupations today, we need to ask ourselves what the point is of a given focus and why it is necessary. The fact is, most jobs today are not directly related to the actual necessities of life. Rather, most are artificial concoctions created in order to keep people employed so they can maintain purchasing power in an environment where our technology continues to expand exponentially, displacing humans from the production force.
It is a common statement in politics today to hear about "creating jobs". Well, in theory, an occupation could be created where people are paid to sit in a room and test chewing gum all day, everyday... but is that a viable use of the human mind? Should we relegate our mental capacity to simple any so called job due to mere "economic" reasons, regardless of what it actually contributes to personal and/or social development? This becomes even more bizarre as a train of reason when we realize that Mechanization not only frees us from labor, it is actually more efficient and productive due to the exponential advancement of science and technology.
On a different level, the very reality that each human being is required to be put in a position of servitude to a corporation or client in order to gain income to purchase the necessities of life not only perpetuates the waste of the human mind and human life, it is also a form of oppression – slavery. If we combine the aforementioned "Infinite Growth" point above regarding the Debt pressure that is build into this system, we see that the combination of the guaranteed Debt imbalance and the requirement to submit to Labor, regardless of its purpose/effect, in order to gain monetary income to survival – is a structural form of oppression against the lower classes (who hold the most debt and need for more period income).
As noted, advancements in science and technology have shown that we can automate a great deal. The more we have applied mechanization to labor, the more productive things have become. Therefore, it is not only negligent for us to waste our lives waiting tables, working at a bus station, fixing cars, or other repetitive, monotonous jobs, it is also entirely irresponsible for us not to apply modern mechanization techniques to all industries that it is possible for, apart from strategic resource management, this is a powerful way to achieve balance and abundance for all the world's people, thus reducing crime generating imbalances.
The fact is, the Market System cannot maintain itself with any viable integrity anymore for corporation will continue to save money through automation, displacing human labor- which also displaces purchasing power, continuing the inevitable loss of "growth" that defines this system.
In the end, today’s society now has access to highly advanced technologies and can easily provide more than enough for all of the earth’s people. This is possible through the implementation of an economy based on scientific resource management and applying modern methods. This is the purpose of The Zeitgeist Movement- to create a global awareness to thus transition into a new, sustainable direction for humanity as a whole.
The Movement's principle focus includes the recognition that the majority of the social problems which plague the human species at this time are not the sole result of some institutional corruption, scarcity, a political policy, a flaw of "human nature" or other commonly held assumptions of causality.
Rather, The Movement recognizes that issues such as poverty, corruption, collapse, homelessness, war, starvation and the like appear to be "Symptoms" born out of an outdated social structure. While intermediate Reform steps and temporal Community Support are of interest to The Movement, the defining goal here is the installation of a new socioeconomic model based upon technically responsible Resource Management, Allocation and Distribution through what would be considered The Scientific Method of reasoning problems and finding optimized solutions.
This "Natural Law/Resource-Based Economy" is about taking a direct technical approach to social management as opposed to a Monetary or even Political one. It is about updating the workings of society to the most advanced and proven methods Science has to offer, leaving behind the damaging consequences and limiting inhibitions which are generated by our current system of monetary exchange, profits, corporations and other structural and motivational components.
The Movement is loyal to a train of thought, not figures or institutions. In other words, the view held is that through the use of socially targeted research and tested understandings in Science and Technology, we are now able to logically arrive at societal applications which could be profoundly more effective in meeting the needs of the human population. In fact, so much so, that there is little reason to assume war, poverty, most crimes and many other money-based scarcity effects common in our current model cannot be resolved over time.
The range of The Movement's Activism & Awareness Campaigns extend from short to long term, with the model based explicitly on Non-Violent methods of communication. The long term view, which is the transition into a new social system, is a constant pursuit and expression, as stated before. However, in the path to get there, The Movement also recognizes the need for transitional Reform techniques, along with direct Community Support.
For instance, while "Monetary Reform" itself is not an end solution proposed by The Movement, the merit of such legislative approaches are still considered valid in the context of transition and temporal integrity. Likewise, while food and clothes drives and other supportive projects to help those in need today are also not considered a long term solution, it is still considered valid in the context of helping others in a time of need, while also drawing awareness to the principle goal.
The Zeitgeist Movement also has no allegiance to a country or traditional political platforms. It views the world as a single system and the human species as a single family and recognizes that all countries must disarm and learn to share resources and ideas if we expect to survive in the long run. Hence, the solutions arrived at and promoted are in the interest to help everyone on the planet Earth, not a select group.
“Once the corn started to get planted our bees died by the millions,” Schuit said. He and many others, including the European Union, are pointing the finger at a class of insecticides known as neonicotinoids, manufactured by Bayer CropScience Inc. used in planting corn and some other crops. The European Union just recently voted to ban these insecticides for two years, beginning December 1, 2013, to be able to study how it relates to the large bee kill they are experiencing there also.
Local grower Nathan Carey from the Neustadt, and National Farmers Union Local 344 member, says he noticed this spring the lack of bees and bumblebees on his farm. He believes that there is a strong connection between the insecticide use and the death of pollinators.
“I feel like we all have something at stake with this issue,” he said. He is organizing a public workshop and panel discussion about this problem at his farm June 22 at 10 a.m. He hopes that all interested parties can get together and talk about the reason bees, the prime pollinators of so any different plant species, are dying.
At the farm of Gary Kenny, south west of Hanover, eight of the 10 hives he kept for a beekeeper out of Kincardine, died this spring just after corn was planted in neighbouring fields.
What seems to be deadly to bees is that the neonicotinoid pesticides are coating corn seed and with the use of new air seeders, are blowing the pesticide dust into the air when planted. The death of millions of pollinators was looked at by American Purdue University. They found that, “Bees exhibited neurotoxic symptoms, analysis of dead bees revealed traces of thiamethoxam/clothianidin in each case. Seed treatments of field crops (primarily corn) are the only major source of these compounds.
Local investigations near Guelph, led to the same conclusion. A Pest Management Regulatory Agency investigation confirmed that corn seeds treated with clothianidin or thiamethoxam “contributed to the majority of the bee mortalities” last spring.
“The air seeders are the problem,” said Ontario Federation of Agriculture director Paul Wettlaufer, who farms near Neustadt. This was after this reporter called John Gillespie, OFA Bruce County president, who told me to call Wettlaufer. Unfortunately, Wettlaufer said it was, “not a local OFA issue,” and that it was an issue for the Grain Farmers of Ontario and representative, Hennry Vanakum should be notified. Vanakum could not be rached for comment.
Yet Guelph University entomologist Peter Kevan, disagreed with the EU ban.
“There’s very little evidence to say that neonicotinoids, in a very general sense, in a broad scale sense, have been a major component in the demise of honeybees or any other pollinators, anywhere in the world,” said Kevan.
But research is showing that honeybee disorders and high colony losses have become a global phenomena. An international team of scientists led by Holland’s Utrecht University concluded that, ”Large scale prophylaxic use in agriculture, their high persistence in soil and water, and their uptake by plants and translocation to flowers, neonicotinoids put pollinator services at risk.” This research and others rsulted in the Eurpean Union ban.
The United Church is also concerned about the death of so many pollinators and has prepared a “Take Action” paper it’s sending out to all its members. The church is basing its action on local research. The Take Action paper states among other things, “Scientific information gathered suggests that the planting of corn seeds treated with neonicotinoids contributed to the majority of the bee mortalities that occurred in corn growing regions of Ontario and Quebec in Spring 2012.”
Meanwhile Schuit is replacing his queen bees every few months now instead of years, as they are dying so frequently. “OMAFRA tells me to have faith. Well, I think it’s criminal what is happening, and it’s hard to have faith if it doesn’t look like they are going to do anything anyway,” Schuit says.

Fac parte dintre putinii martori care se mai afla în viata, colega de grupa, prietena si partasa la aceleasi framântari ale poetului în ultimul lui an de existenta - tumultuosul si sângerosul 1956, când doar pentru o clipa am trait iluzia libertatii. Aceasta fericire m-a transformat în martor incomod si "nociv". În realitate, nu aveam nici pe departe carisma si puterea lui de luptator. Am fost aleasa însa ca exemplu, arestata si condamnata, pentru ca am organizat sedinte "conspirative", "contrarevolutionare", la care a participat si poetul Nicolae Labis. Aceeasi soarta a avut-o si colegul si prietenul nostru comun Aurel Covaci, care-l adapostea pe poetul fara locuinta si bani Nicolae Labis.
Campania de înfricosare prin santaj, schingiuire, condamnari fara drept de apel, lipsiri de drepturi civile a fost atât de aberanta, încât ne-a amutit, pe unii pentru vecie. Aurel Covaci, devenit în 1962 sotul meu, mi-a propus sa nu vorbim, sa îngropam în adâncul nostru aceasta cutremuratoare taina.
POETUL, PE "LISTA NEAGRA" Familia poetului a stiut adevarul de la început. Rapus pe patul de la Spitalul de Urgenta, el le-a marturisit tatalui sau si câtorva prieteni apropiati ca a fost împins între vagoanele tramvaiului si ca-l cunostea pe executant. Singura marturisire, din zorii zilei de 10 decembrie, dictata lui Aurel Covaci, care fusese chemat la dorinta lui Nicolae Labis de o voce anonima, cu un usor accent rusesc (vocea Mariei Polevoi - dansatoare, n. 1919 în Basarabia), transmite concluzia cum nu se poate mai clara ca necrutatoarea "Pasare cu clont de rubin" a doctrinei comuniste s-a razbunat pentru nesupunerea lui si l-a strivit. Cu ironie amara trage speranta ca urmasii pajurei vor gasi prin tarâna urmele poetului Nicolae Labis, care "va ramâne o amintire frumoasa".
Ultimele trei cuvinte, acel vaer atât de lucid si disperat, au ramas în manuscrisul original, taiate de Aurel Covaci la cererea celui care urma sa plece demn, împins în abisul mortii de cei pe care i-a crezut ca au suflet si idealuri.
Ma voi rezuma în textul de fata doar la ceea ce cunosc despre cum s-au petrecut hartuirea, lupta si solutia finala dintre poetul Nicolae Labis si organele Securitatii statului în toata ierarhia lor în cele trei luni ale toamnei anului 1956.
De cum a venit, atras de mirajul Capitalei în anul 1952, tânarul Labis, romantic revolutionar, cum se spunea pe atunci, încercând sa scrie în pas cu cerintele epocii, a înteles ca îndrumarea falsa si restrictiile care i se impuneau nu pot fi admise. Inteligenta scotocitoare, talentul debordant au declansat ura si invidia colegilor de la Scoala de Literatura (Nicolae Stoian, Gh. Tomozei si altii), dar, mai ales, din partea responsabililor cu "tinerele talente": M. Beniuc, Marcel Breslasu, Gogu Radulescu, Mihai Gafita s.a. Pentru ca Labis nu s-a supus, a refuzat obladuirea cuiva, consider ca de atunci începe sa i se constituie dosarul de urmarire. Directorul Scolii de Literatura îl credea pe Labis "un ratacit" cu idei "daunatoare" si creeaza în jurul lui o retea informativa dintre colegi, obligati, de spaima, din lasitate sau din dorinta de parvenire, sa scrie si sa depuna regulat note informative despre lecturile interzise, ideile razvratite si tot ce parea suspect la acest ciudat coleg cu aspect de copil nastrusnic si generos. Concret, se perinda sanctiunile, tentativele de exmatriculare din scoala sau UTM, consemnarea la domiciliu, perchezitiile în camera de la camin, urmate de confiscarea cartilor interzise. A continuat interzicerea textelor si a prezentei lui la Festivalul Mondial al Tineretului - Bucuresti 1953. În marea lor ura si prostie, colegii si "victima" l-au pârât pentru "tentativa de viol" asupra naivei Doina Ciurea. Doar M. Sadoveanu, care-l simpatiza, l-a mai putut salva de sanctiuni.
Ne apropiem de anul 1956, când poetul Nicolae Labis se hotarâse sa termine cu "coproductiile" si sa porneasca pe drumul propriu, fara îndrumatori si închistari în lozinci triumfaliste. Într-un interviu dat la Radio în 1956 lui Titel Constantinescu, el numeste perioada Scolii de Literatura "Treapta limpezirii". Citez:
"În aceasta etapa m-am format prin lupta. Dogmatismul, birocratia, iata niste scorpii care circulau cu violenta pe atunci în domeniul fraged al tinerei noastre literaturi... dar nu m-am închinat cum, vai, au facut-o unii colegi nimerniciei...".
Labis primeste riposte dure: La Plenara sectiei de poezie de la 29 mai 1956, în referatul lui M. Petroveanu (sotul Veronicai Porumbacu) îi caracterizeaza poeziile ca dominate de "apasare si tristete lipsita de obiect", iar Mihu Dragomir îl acuza de "asimilarea excesiva a unor poeti dintre cele doua razboaie (Ion Barbu si Tudor Arghezi), ca apoi, la primul Congres al Scriitorilor din iunie 1956, sa-l învinuiasca de "snobism, evazionism, influente ale ideologiei burgheze, infiltratii liberaliste, slaba pregatire ideologica, lipsa de contact cu realitatea, precum si confuzii cu privire la raportul dintre libertate si îndrumare".
Atmosfera de suspiciune, intrigile din tagma, piedicile puse sub diverse pretexte la publicarea volumului asteptat si a unor poezii trimise la reviste, lipsa de bani îl izoleaza, dar cel mai mult îl înspaimânta chemarile la ordin cu amenintari din partea Securitatii. Stia ca este trecut pe "lista neagra" întocmita de Gogu Radulescu (prezent în tribuna pâna în ultima zi a lui Ceausescu), care primise de pe atunci sarcina ca, sub pretextul unor discutii sincere" cu tinerii scriitori, sa afle si sa informeze Securitatea ce idei dusmanoase îi framânta în taina.
"Labis a fost ales pentru a exemplifica urmarile posibile ale nesupunerii", declara cu toata raspunderea ziaristul si apropiatul prieten pâna la moarte, Portik Imre, în memoriile sale postume, aparute abia în anul 2005, dupa parerea mea, cea mai autentica, dezinteresata si bine informata consemnare dintre cele aparute pâna acum.
PRESENTIMENTUL MORTII Pe parcursul anului 1956, cred ca prin vara, se muta de la adresa de pe Str. Odobescu, unde locuiau în comun fratii Raicu, D. Carabat, Gh. Margarit (sporadic mai dormea si pe la Ion Baesu sau Lucian Pintilie). Ceruse o camera de la Uniunea Scriitorilor, dar nu primeste. Colegul sau, mai în vârsta cu trei ani, Aurel Covaci, generos si ocrotitor, îi ofera sa împarta, ca între frati, camera cu chirie de la ICRAL de pe Strada Miletin nr. 14. Dormeau într-un pat, îsi împarteau bruma de mâncare, tigarile si paharul de vin, dar mai ales nedumeririle, spaimele si hotarârile. Din acel septembrie 1956, eu, Stela Pogorilovschi, studenta la Sectia de Literatura si Critica Literara, anul III Filologie, am devenit prietena apropiata, confidenta, împartasindu-le durerile si bucuriile zi de zi. Am povestit în doua carti aparute - "Timpul asasinilor", Editura Libra, 1997, si în "Persecutia", Editura Vremea, 2006 - parte din documentele memoriei mele care se refera la acel anotimp zguduit de istorie, a carui amprenta a ramas ca un sigiliu sacru impregnat în fiinta mea fagila, maturizând-o. Le voi relua curând în alta parte, întregindu-le mai ales pe cele despre poetul supravegheat si voi povesti cum, împotriva ratiunii lui salvatoare, destinul, adica propria lui structura spirituala, înfruntând "masina infernala", îl împingea spre pieire. De altfel, în majoritatea poeziilor de atunci, presentimentele, ca în tragediile antice, domina si ne coplesesc. Aurel Covaci le cunostea cel mai bine, i-a citit primul epitafurile despre care, cu nesabuinta, regretatul Laurentiu Ulici mi-a spus: "Poetul si-a regizat singur moartea".
Voi încerca acum sa deslusesc semnificatia "noptilor de cosmar", adica a trairilor din poeziile scrise sau dictate lui Aurel Covaci, câte s-au mai pastrat, din cele doua nopti esentiale: Noaptea Sfântului Andrei - 30 noiembrie 1956 si 2 decembire 1956 - Ultima zi de nastere, la împlinirea a 21 de ani. Cele din Ultima Noapte au fost descoperite de mine acum un an în Muzeul de la Suceava, "Fondul Nicolae Labis", la care nu am avut acces pâna recent, dupa cum, timp de peste 50 de ani, nu am fost invitata niciodata sa onorez vreo festivitate dedicata poetului. (Mai degraba au tinut sa afle ce stiam despre incomodul poet, teribilul Pantiusa si capitanul Gh. Enoiu, tartorul anchetelor de pe Uranus).
Din noaptea Sfântului Andrei s-au pastrat doar trei poezii ale cosmarului care acum devenise datina.
Labis se asezase turceste peste patura patului hârbuit, dar ospitalier, umbra lui din profil apare clatinându-se pe peretele varuit ("Umbra mea îsi clatina/ Limpede var/ Vine ca o datina/ Noaptea de cosmar").
Aurel Covaci se asaza, în pozitia lui Buda, în fata poetului si îsi deseneaza unul altuia staturile din profil. Pentru a se încuraja au scris cu litere mari, în carbune deasupra: "Omule, nu te supara, ca trece si asta".
Ca în transa, preluând cosmarul celuilalt, Aurel Covaci compune primul sonet al cosmarului, iscalit apoi cu brio de Nicolae Labis. Foaia aceea a fost arestata si ea de Securitate (corp delict nr. 30), dar mai apoi a fost recuperata. S-a mai pastrat, bracuit, începutul celui de-al doilea sonet al cosmarului cu scrisul lui Covaci ("Eram în vis cadavru în racla si în groapa...").
O viziune a propriei morti, dar si a acelor tainice recuperari spirituale de dupa. Labis i-a transmis imaginea în transa poetica.
A treia poezie, fara titlu, scrisa si compusa de Nicolae Labis, pe care Covaci o aproba doar prin iscalitura, o marturie totala despre suferinta ("Ma doare totul: visul, cuvântul, somnul, viata si vântul..."). Aici apare imaginea surprinzatoare a poetului sugrumat cu propria-i fasa de prunc, atârnat cu capul spre adâncul genunii si cu picioarele invers, spre cer.
Semnificatia acestei obsedante imagini am dezlegat-o abia dupa descoperirea celui de-al doilea set de poezii dictate, iscalite si datate de Nicolae Labis din cea de-a doua noapte de cosmar, la 2 decembrie 1956. Le-am recunoscut imediat dupa caracteristica foilor rupte dintr-o mapa de birou, dar, mai ales, ca multe sunt stenografiate total sau partial. Caligrafia este a lui Aurel Covaci, stenografia cu atât mai mult, pentru ca acesta o învatase dupa un manual modern si la facultate îsi stenografia unele cursuri.
M-am gândit emtionata ca hieroglifele pot acoperi taine ascunse, ultimele gânduri intime ale poetului, peste care au trecut 50 de ani si atâtea priviri scotocitoare plus competenta si vigilenta "poetului print" Gheorghe Tomozei, care, stapân pe toata arhiva, nu a avut interesul sa se ocupe de ele. Mi s-a permis xeroxarea si pe parcursul anului 2008, le-am descifrat cu ajutorul a doua doamne stenografe supercalificate. Apar acum prima oara. Doar câteva scrise de mâna au fost rupte din context si prezentate fara semnificatii în alte parti.
Le veti citi si veti întelege disperarea poetului, care, "îngrozit de temnicer", "înainte de gol", "înainte de focul suav, zâmbitor de pistol", se adreseaza "omului de pe marginea patului", care i-a însotit "nefericirea noptii de cosmar". Spânzurat cu capul în jos de un iades, lasa aceasta ultima chemare "nu scrisa, ci dictata", tipând în van "ajutor"! Ultimele lui concluzii, concentrate în 13 versuri, i le-a încredintat lui Covaci, poate cu rugamintea de a nu le face publice niciodata. E vorba despre poezia "Credo", o viziune a omenirii lase si a puterii lui Satan pe pamântul patriei, data de Dumnezeu altar Poetului.
Despre simbolistica Spânzuratului din cartile de Tarot, explicata succint de doi mari scriitori ocultisti, sunt necesare explicatii:
Eliphas Levi (secolul al XIX-lea): "Spânzuratul este un simbol al lui Prometeu, cu picioarele în cer si capul atingând pamântul, adeptul liber si mânat de sacrificiu care dezvaluie oamenilor secretul zeilor si care pentru asta este amenintat cu moartea".
Teologul Leonid Uspenski, în cartea cu poeme în proza, zice despre Spânzurat: "Iata, acesta este omul care a vazut Adevarul. O noua suferinta, mai mare decât poate provoca vreodata orice durere omeneasca...".
Nicolae Labis spune totul despre el si despre epoca celui rau. Prin ultimele lui mesaje mi se confirma ceea ce aflasem: Nicolae Labis, structural, avea toate datele unui viitor mare initiat. Primele taine le-a aflat de la profesorul sau de limba româna, V. Gh. Popa (condamnat la 16 ani de închisoare politica), discipol si apropiat al lui Vasile Lovinescu. Profesorul de la liceul din Falticeni este cel care i-a deschis ochii spre frumusetea, profunzimea si tâlcul folclorului strabun. Nicolae Labis are chiar o culegere proprie de poezii populare de toate genurile, printre care basmul Lostrita, care aminteste prin similitudini mitologice de mitul lui Oedip.
SCENARII SI DOVEZI Despre asa-zisul accident de tramvai din noaptea de 9 spre 10 decembrie 1956, caruia i-a supravietuit pâna la data de 21 decembrie, s-a tot scris timp de mai bine de jumatate de secol. Cu greu se poate dovedi care este adevarul, mai ales ca au ramas extrem de putine si verosimile documente. Serviciul kafkian al Securitatii, departamentul de dezintoxicare, prin sumedenie de agenti, chiar si din rândul scriitorilor, au împrastiat drept adevaruri versiuni aberante despre cum s-a petrecut crima si cine poate fi autorul ei. Serviciul despre care am vorbit primea sute de note informative si întocmea apoi dosare pe baza minciunilor clocite tot acolo.
Astfel, voi da ca exemplu doar câteva variante: 1. Labis era atât de beat, încât s-a vârât singur sub tramvai; 2. Labis a baut cu Covaci, iar în statie acesta l-a împins sub tramvai, furându-i si ceasul de la mâna. Aceasta fapta ar avea doua explicatii: a) Covaci este banuit ca "scopul lui a fost de a-l atrage pe poetul Nicolae Labis pe linie contrarevolutionara, iar, daca nu i-a reusit, a trecut la omorârea lui" - extras din documentul CNSAS nr. 62 de la 14 martie 1958, strict secret.
Documentul este perfid întocmit pe baza investigatiilor lui Gh. Achisei si afirmatiei Margaretei Labis, studenta la Filologie; b) Covaci l-a omorât din gelozie, iubeau amândoi aceeasi fata; pare hilar daca nu s-ar fi comandat si un roman difuzat pe piata, scris de Gabriel Gafita. Protagonistii sunt doi buni prieteni scriitori, dintre care unul, lipsit de talent, invidios si gelos, îl ucide pe celalalt. Prost scrisa, cusuta cu ata alba, aceasta versiune nu a prins si nu a convins pe nimeni, dar a fost un foarte bun pretext sa-l ciomageasca pe Aurel Covaci noapte de noapte în perioada când supravietuia cu Petre Pandrea în aceeasi celula (mie mi-a relatat un martor din arest).
Dupa ce ne-au învatat minte si ne-au eliberat din închisoare conditionat, cu angajamentul de a nu relata nimic niciodata, fiind pasibili de o noua pedeapsa, am pastrat, ca pe icoana unui martir, imaginea poetului Nicolae Labis haituit de pazitorii ideologiei în care crezuse candid, ca într-un basm, înfricosat si singur, amenintat cu moartea si cu interdictia. Imaginea acelei ultime nopti de decembrie, reci si cetoase, despre care Vladmir Maiacovschi, victima altei revolutii, a scris: "În astfel de nopti/ În astfel de zile/ Umbla pe strazi cu umbre tiptile/ Poetii si tâhlarii".
I-am recitat întreaga viata poeziile postume. Aurel Covaci îi imita si tonul dulce moldovenesc, cu inflexiuni surprinzator de dure, ca dalta unui sculptor cioplitor al cuvintelor limbii românesti.
FILMUL ULTIMELOR ZILE În momentul de fata, ramasa în viata, sunt singura care a trait si a vazut cu ochii proprii grozavia unei odioase crime ce a retezat prea timpuriu o alta floare de crin întrupându-se într-o zi cât altii în zece. Doar pentru cei de buna-credinta scriu atât cât stiu si, ca pe un desfasurator, punctez filmul ultimelor zile.
A) 6 decembrie, de Sfântul Nicolae. Se întâlneste cu prietenul sau Portik Imre, venit la Bucuresti în delegatie.
I se plânge de lipsa de bani, de lipsa de foc în camera lui Aurel Covaci si de raceala oamenilor care îi erau odata apropiati. Îi citeste o poezie dedicata siesi: "Sunt douazeci de ani si înca unul...". Marturiseste ca foloseste cuvintele limbajului comun ca simboluri: "Pentru mine, cuvintele partid, marxism, stegar s.a. au alta semnificatie decât cea obisnuita...".
Îl preocupa faptul ca a cântat în public în repetate rânduri Imnul regal si a recitat poezii interzise. Vorbeste cu Portik despre evenimentele din Ungaria din 1956 si consecintele de la Facultatea de Filologie, arestari, excluderi. Se hotaraste: "Trebuie sa dispar pentru un timp din fata ochilor lor. Vreau sa dispar din Bucuresti, fara urma". Hotaraste sa plece înainte de Sarbatori.
Mai spune: "Pot flamânzi zile întregi, dar nu pot sa nu scriu". Portik a plecat.
B) 7 si 8 decembrie: Se întoarce foarte târziu la locuinta de pe Miletin 14. Pe data de 8 eu ma întâlnesc cu el si-mi cere cu împrumut suma de 5 lei, echivalentul a doua pachete de tigari Carpati.
C) 9 decembrie. Spre seara apare acasa devreme, avertizat de Aurel Covaci ca nu-i va mai oferi gazduire daca întârzie noptile. E foarte flamând, dar gazda nu are absolut nimic de mâncare. Prânzul îl lua la cantina studenteasca de pe Matei Voievod. Labis cere permisiunea sa comande o friptura pe datorie doamnei Candrea, responsabila restaurantului Casei Scriitorilor. Dumitru C. Micu îsi aminteste ca l-a vazut acolo si ca a plecat singur. Mioara Cremene, în amplul interviu cu doamna Mariana Sipos (Editura Universal Dalsi-2000), îsi aduce aminte ca în acea seara i-a soptit doar atât: "Hei, Miorito, habar n-ai! Nici nu-ti închipui ce mi se pregateste...".
D) În drumul spre casa, cu exact cei 5 lei împrumutati de la mine cumpara o sticluta de un sfert din cea mai ieftina tuica populara. Nevoia de comunicare si alte aleanuri îl deturneaza spre localul Capsa, înca elegant, pastrând din parfumul boemei de odinioara. Labis nu era beat, o afirma si altii, o declara si el la Urgenta. Gusta putin din tuica, nu avea bani nici macar de o cafea. Între timp, la o masa mai încolo, se asaza trei barbati si o femeie. În anchetele trucate ale lui Tomozei sunt prezentati drept necunoscuti. Pe cel putin doi, Labis îi cunostea. Pe unul, înca din 1953, când a avut cu el o altercatie dura la festivitatea înmânarii premiului de stat poetului Alexandru Andritoiu. Acesta i-a spus lui Labis cu ura ca în viata sa nu va "pupa" premiul de stat. Labis se hotaraste sa-l bata, dar Aurel Covaci l-a sfatuit sa se fereasca de el, caci are meseria de "suflator". Îl chema Iosif Schwartszman, zis Grisa, de meserie pianist acompaniator alogen basarabean. Femeia, însotitoarea lui Grisa, pe nume Maria Polevoi, fosta dansatoare la Teatrul "Tanase", în 1956 dansa în ansamblul artistic al MAI. Sora lui Labis mi-a spus ca se pare ca Nicolae Labis o cunostea si pe ea dinainte. Polevoi Maria, nascuta la Ismail-URSS, la 3 martie 1919, cu domiciliul stabil în Bucuresti, Str. Traian nr. 31. Evident, biografiile lui Grisa si a lui Mary Polevoi sunt în multe privinte asemanatoare. Convingerea mea, ca si ei au avut rolurile lor, dar documentele esentiale lipsesc. Eu îi consider agenti, bazându-ma pe declaratiile lor confuze si contradictorii aflate în filele Dosarului penal nr. I84960/1956, arhivat la foarte scurta vreme dupa moartea poetului.
Grisa Schwartszman, în acea noapte la Capsa, l-a invitat la masa lor. Poetul, disperat, s-a lasat ademenit de femeie si le-a oferit si lor din bruma lui de tuica. Mai mult, Labis nu a baut. I-a invitat la restaurantul Victoria, în subsolul pasajului cu acelasi nume. Labis a vrut sa-si amaneteze ceasul "Pobeda", ca sa-i ofere ceva lui Mary, dar nu a reusit. Apoi, femeia îi propune sa se furiseze pe cai diferite si sa se întâlneasca în statia de tramvai Coltea, invitându-l peste noapte la ea. În statia prost luminata apare si filatorul Grisa. Mary îl recunoaste si asista de la o mica distanta cum poetul ezita, asteptând-o sa ia tramvaiul 13, care iese din refugiul din fata spitalului, face bucla si opreste usor în fata Muzeului Sutu. Patru persoane asteapta sa urce, Labis e al treilea, dar tot mai sovaie. Când se porneste tramvaiul, cel de-al patrulea îl împinge pe Nicolae Labis pe gratarul dintre cele doua vagoane. Grisa striga ca cel cazut e beat, în timp ce Mary, nemaiîndurând grozavia, spune ca îl cunostea pe poetul Nicolae Labis si roaga sa fie dus la spital. Considerând ca victima este în stare de ebrietate, doi barbati (probabil martorii din statie) îl târasc pe propriile picioare, fortând fisura coloanei si împreuna cu femeia îl duc la camera de garda. Lasat pe jos, nu este nici internat, nici consultat, ci trimis cu un taxi si cu femeia mai departe, pâna ajung la Urgenta de pe Str. Arh. Mincu. Înca erau la Coltea când poetul, constient, da numarul de telefon al lui Aurel Covaci, si Mary îl anunta în jurul orei 3 dimineata ca unul Labes a suferit un accident de tramvai.
În memoriile postume ale lui Portik Imre se limpezesc multe aspecte ale asa-zisului accident. Îngrijorat ca nu a aparut înca la Covasna, Portik revine la Bucuresti, îl gaseste la Spitalul de Urgenta. Portarul îi sopteste: "Se spune ca «era beat», dar a fost aruncat sub tramvai". Îl gaseste complet lucid si vorbind coerent. L-a întrebat daca a primit telegrama trimisa în ajun din spital (10 decembrie) printr-o fata, Stela. Eu i-o dusesem la posta, dar telegrama nu a ajuns. Asa cum am aflat din dosarul meu de urmarire informativa, înca din 1956, printr-un ordin secret, corespondenta îmi era triata si partial oprita. În telegrama, poetul se scuza ca nu poate fi punctual la întâlnire, fara alte explicatii.
Am sa extrag câteva fragmente esentiale, pentru stabilirea adevarului, din memoriile lui Portik Imre. El reconstituie cu scrupulozitate vorbele lui Labis din ziua revederii lor, cât si cele relatate de Maria Polevoi, aparuta la Spital pe la ora 3 p.m. si acceptând sa stea de vorba cu Portik circa doua ore, invitata la masa la Restaurantul Kiseleff. Informatiile pe care le-am adunat o viata întreaga, insinuarile din anchetele speciale ale Securitatii ma determina sa le acord toata încrederea.
Labis catre Portik: "Nu, n-am fost beat. E adevarat ca am baut dupa-amiaza si în seara aceea, dar nici macar ametit n-am fost...", "Nu am cazut singur, am fost îmbrâncit din spate de cineva... Nu aveam intentia sa iau tramvaiul din mers, fiindca trebuia sa vad mai întâi în ce tramvai si în ce vagon urca ea". Maria Polevoi îl zareste ajuns în statie, dar se razgândeste si se retrage în umbra. "Aveam multe motive ca nimeni sa nu ma vada cu el. Când a sosit primul tamvai nr. 13, l-am urmarit cu privirea, având de gând sa nu urc daca se urca el. Am vazut clar cum l-a îmbrâncit cel din spatele lui, continuându-si drumul, în timp ce poetul disparuse..." Despre autorul faptei: "... Sta putin la o parte, cu mâinile în buzunar, vorbea murdar despre Labis". Mariei Polevoi i-a fost frica toata viata sa pronunte numele celui care a executat atentatul. Poate ca pâna la un moment dat i-a fost complice. Cert este ca sensibilitatea ei de femeie (cine stie prin câte vicisitudini trecuta) angajata în MAI, fie chiar si într-un ansamblu, a determinat-o, la data de 10 decembrie, sa se prezinte la Uniunea Scriitorilor si sa stea de vorba cu Mihai Gafita (fost ofiter de securitate) si sa-i povesteasca despre cele vazute cu adevarat. În felul acesta sunt informati în secret cei care aveau sarcina de partid sa-l supravegheze pe poetul Nicolae Labis: Marcel Breslasu, Mihai Beniuc, Ema Beniuc, Emil Galan. În cursul noptii de 10 spre 11 decembrie, Mary primeste mai multe telefoane de amenintare cu moartea.
Lasa sa se înteleaga ca i-a recunoscut vocea lui Grisa Schwartszman. Pâna în 1978, fiinta aceasta a trait sub teroarea detinerii secretului crimei si s-a sinucis dupa ce cineva si-a amintit de ea si a încercat sa o determine sa spuna adevarul.
Cât despre Grisa, înca se mai poate realiza o investigatie competenta asupra celor doua procese-verbale de ascultare consemnate de sergentul major Gheorghe Aurelian de la DMC, la ora 2:40, în noaptea de 10 decembrie. În urma celor doua declaratii confuze si mincinoase ale lui, manipulate în continuare de Securitate, se dispune trimiterea dosarului la Procuratura Raionului Tudor Vladimirescu. Concluzia a fost ca, pentru producerea accidentului, vinovat ar fi manipulantul tramvaiului, consemnându-se urmatoarele: "Întrucât accidentul nu s-a datorat nici cel putin faptului încercarii sale de a se urca în vagon, urmeaza a se constata ca (nu) sunt întrunite elementele constitutive ale acestui delict si a pronunta ca atare încetarea procesului".
Mihai Beniuc a avut sarcina grea. El a trebuit sa-i alunge pe tinerii, pe scriitorii sau pe studentii înghesuiti pe coridoarele Urgentei. Nu pierdea nici un prilej sa-i mustre si sa-l dea de exemplu pe Labis. Îi avertiza la ce ducea faptul sa nu asculti de îndrumarea partidului. Acelasi lucru l-a declarat si Nicolae Ceausescu prin anii '70, adresându-se unei delegatii de tineri scriitori, sfatuindu-i sa nu comita fapte nesabuite daca vor sa nu împartaseasca soarta poetului Labis.
A murit când furios, când sperând, parându-i rau si iubind cu ardoare viata si oamenii, implorând în ultimele ceasuri sa i se aduca ozon de pe culmile unde se adapa caprioara.
L-am revazut pe catafalc în holul Casei Scriitorilor, îmbracat în costumul pe care si-l cumparase cu o luna înainte din banii pe "Primele iubiri", scufundat în spuma voalului de mireasa mortuar. Mâna lui fina mi s-a parut ca o retine pe a mea. M-am înspaimântat, caci i se schimbase chipul. Avea fata Spânzuratului din Tarot si în craniu, din care i se extirpase creierul, i-au bagat în loc câlti. Satana, clontul Pasarii cu clont de rubin, si-a facut datoria.
Avem dreptul sa stim si noi ce a stiut Securitatea Mai stiu ca agentului Schwartszman Isac-Grisa, la scurta vreme dupa înmormântarea lui Nicolae Labis, i s-au aprobat actele de plecare definitiva din tara.
Timp de aproape zece zile, Spitalul de Urgenta, în care poetul tragea sa moara, s-a transformat într-un obiectiv strategic aparat strasnic sub supravegherea stricta a Securitatii române.
Au instalat filtre discrete, au facut fotografii, au dat rapoarte - cred ca exista o sumedenie de documente de acest gen în dosarele care au ramas deschise, dar "închise" în sensul ca "Numele lui Nicolae Labis este necunoscut în arhiva Securitatii" (acesta a fost raspunsul primit de mine acum patru ani de la SRI).

“Da sempre si sa che la sindrome da deficit di attenzione e iperattività (Adhd) è un'operazione di disease-mongering (strategia di marketing farmaceutico), un'invenzione di patologie inesistenti per vendere più farmaci”. Questo il commento del portavoce dell'associazione 'Giu' le mani dai bambini’, Luca Poma. Molti addetti ai lavori hanno "piena consapevolezza del fatto che molte forme di disagio infantile vengano classificate come Adhd. Ciò detto- prosegue Poma- non significa che non esistano bambini con problemi che debbano essere presi in carico". Secondo Pome, tuttavia, la questione va incentrata su un altro punto: “Quale deve essere il ruolo degli adulti? Noi dobbiamo chiederci che tipo di risposta dare a questi problemi. Prendere la scorciatoia offerta dallo psicofarmaco, che solo in apparenza risolve i problemi, oppure indagare sui motivi veri e profondi che si celano dietro i disagi di questi minori?”.
A tal proposito il Comitato dei Cittadini per i Diritti Umani onlus ricorda che la Commissione consultiva nazionale svizzera sull’etica biomedica (NEK, Presidente: Otfried Höffe) ha aspramente commentato l'uso del Ritalin, il farmaco per l’ADHD, nel suo scritto del 22 novembre 2011 intitolato “Il miglioramento dell’uomo mediante agenti farmacologici”, in cui afferma che il consumo di agenti farmacologici altera il comportamento del bambino senza alcun contributo da parte sua. Si ottiene, pertanto una interferenza nella libertà e nei diritti del bambino perché gli agenti farmacologici inducono cambiamenti comportamentali, ma non arrivano ad educare il bambino su come realizzare questi cambiamenti in modo autonomo. Il bambino viene così privato dell'essenziale esperienza di apprendimento su come agire autonomamente, con conseguente notevole limitazione della sua libertà e alterazione del proprio sviluppo della personalità.
Eppure l'uso di farmaci per l’ADHD in Germania è aumentato in soli diciotto anni da 34 kg (nel 1993) a un record di non meno di 1760 kg (nel 2011) – che è un aumento di 51 volte tanto nelle vendite! Negli Stati Uniti un ragazzo di dieci anni su 10 già assume un farmaco per l’ADHD su una base quotidiana. E la tendenza sembra destinata a crescere.
“Il compito di psicologi, educatori e medici – scrive il Comitato dei Cittadini per i Diritti Umani onlus - non è quello di mettere i bambini sotto farmaci solo perché l'intera società non può gestire i prodotti delle teorie sbagliate di qualcuno, dandoli così in pasto alle società farmaceutiche. Ritorniamo piuttosto al principio di base che è quello di far acquisire al bambino responsabilità personale sotto una guida esperta – come la famiglia e la scuola: In questi campi, il bambino dovrebbe essere in grado di crescere, anche mentalmente”.
Secondo Luca Poma dell'associazione 'Giu' le mani dai bambini’ la soluzione per Poma non è "vietare la vendita dei farmaci come il Ritalin, perchè su internet si possono comprare. Si tratterebbe di un divieto formale e non sostanziale. Abbiamo bisogno di fare una battaglia culturale e di informazione, ricordando che non si risolvono i problemi della psiche ingoiando una pillola".
Charlie Chaplin, tata a 12 copii, in 1965, fiind la venerabila varsta de 76 de ani, a scris o scrisoare fiicei sale de 21 de ani, Geraldine, care incerca sa-si faca o cariera in lumea dansului, in orasul Paris. Scrisoarea este emotionanta, foarte personala, dar in acelasi timp i se potriveste fiecaruia din noi.
Este un exemplu de dragoste paterna si grija, de tristete si bucurie, mandrie si ingrijorare, intelepciune adunata de-a lungul anilor si copilarie, care s-a pastrat in el. “Niciodata nu am fost un inger”, scria geniul cinematografiei, “dar intotdeauna m-am staruit sa fiu un om in adevaratul sens al cuvantului. Incearca si tu”.
Cititi aceasta scrisoare si ganditi-va la ce v-au invatat parintii si ce ati vrea sa va invatati copiii.
Fetita mea!
Acum este noapte. Noaptea de Craciun. Toti soldatii inarmati din mica mea cetate au adormit. Fratele tau si sora ta dorm. Chiar si mama ta doarme. Aproape ca nu am trezit puisorii adormiti, cand m-am pornit in camera asta semi luminata. Cat esti de departe de mine! Si sa orbesc daca nu vad imaginea ta in fata ochilor mei tot timpul. Portretul tau sta aici pe masa si aici, in inima mea. Dar unde esti tu? Acolo, in Parisul de poveste, dansezi pe mareata scena teatrala de pe Champs-Élysées. Stiu asta prea bine si totusi mi se pare ca aud pasii tai in linistea noptii, vad ochii tai, care stralucesc ca stelele pe cerul de iarna.
Aud cum interpretezi in spectacolul de Craciun rolul frumoasei persiene inrobita de hanul tatar. Fii o frumoasa si danseaza! Fii o stea si straluceste! Dar daca extazul si multumirile publicului te vor imbata, daca mireasma florilor te vor ameti, aseaza-te in colt si citeste scrisoarea mea, asculta-ti glasul inimii. Sunt tatal tau, Geraldine! Eu, Charlie, Charlie Chaplin! Stii tu, oare cate nopti am stat langa patul tau cand erai mica si iti povesteam basme despre frumoasa adormita, despre dragonul care nu doarme niciodata? Si cand somnul imi biruia ochii batrani radeam de el si ii ziceam: “Pleaca! Somnul meu e tesut din visurile fiicei mele!”
Ti-am vazut visurile, Geraldine, ti-am vazut viitorul, ziua ta de azi. Am vazut o fata dansand pe scena, o zana alunecand pe cer. Auzeam cum vorbea publicul: “Vedeti fata aceasta? Este fiica unui bufon batran. Mai tineti minte? Il chema Charlie.” Da, eu sunt Charlie! Sunt acel bufon batran! Astazi este randul tau. Danseaza! Eu am dansat in pantaloni rupti, largi, dar tu dansezi in costum de matase de printesa. Aceste dansuri si furtuna de aplauze te vor inalta la cer. Zboara! Zboara acolo! Dar coboara si pe pamant! Trebuie sa vezi viata oamenilor, viata dansatorilor de pe strada, care danseaza tremurand de frig si de foame. Eu am fost ca ei, Geraldine. In acele nopti magice cand tu adormeai leganata de povestile mele, eu stateam treaz.
Ma uitam la fata ta, ascultam bataile inimii tale si ma intrebam: “Charlie, oare acest pisicut intr-o zi te va recunoaste?” Nu mai stii, Geraldine. Multe povesti ti-am spus in acele nopti indepartate, dar poveste mea – niciodata. Dar ea este interesanta. Este despre bufonul flamand, care canta si dansa in cartierele sarace ale Londrei si pe urma strangea pentru binefaceri. Iata-o, povestea mea! Am cunoscut si foamea si ce inseamna sa nu ai un acoperis deasupra capului. Mai mult decat atat, am simtit durerea umilitoare a mascariciului hoinar, in pieptul caruia se framanta un ocean de mandrie; si aceasta mandrie era ranita dureros de monedele aruncate. Si totusi sunt viu, asa ca sa lasam asta.
Mai bine sa vorbim despre tine. Dupa numele tau – Geraldine – urmeaza familia mea – Chaplin. Cu aceasta familie, mai bine de 40 de ani am amuzat oamenii. Dar eu am plans mai mult decat au ras ei. Geraldine, in lumea in care traiesti, exista nu numai dansuri si muzica! La miezul noptii, cand iesi din sala imensa, poti sa uiti de admiratorii bogati, dar nu uita sa intrebi de soferul taxiului, care te va duce acasa, de sotia sa. Si daca este insarcinata si nu au bani de scutece pentru viitorul copil, pune-i niste bani in buzunar. Am dat ordin la banca sa-ti plateasca aceste cheltuieli. Dar celorlalti plateste-le exact cat le datorezi. Din cand in cand mergi cu metroul sau cu autobuzul, mergi pe jos si cunoaste orasul.
Priveste mai atent la oameni! Uita-te la vaduve si copii orfani. Macar o data pe zi vorbeste-ti asa: “Sunt la fel ca ei”. Da, esti una cu ei, fetita mea! Mai mult decat atat. Arta, inainte sa dea aripi omului, ca el sa zboare in sus, ii rupe picioarele. Si daca va veni ziua cand te vei simti mai presus decat publicul, paraseste scena imediat. Cu primul taxi mergi prin periferiile Parisului. Il stiu foarte bine! Acolo vei vedea multe dansatoare ca tine, poate chiar mai frumoase, mai gratioase, cu mai multa mandrie. Acolo nu va fi nici urma de reflectoarele orbitoare ale teatrului tau. Reflector pentru dansele este luna.
Uita-te bine! Nu danseaza ele mai bine decat tine? Recunoaste, fetita mea! Intotdeauna se va gasi acela care danseaza, joaca mai bine decat tine! Si tine minte: in familia lui Charlie nu a fost nici unul care sa fi certat soferul de taxi sau sa rada de saracii care locuiesc pe malurile Senei. Eu voi muri, iar tu vei trai. Vreau ca tu niciodata sa nu stii ce e aceea saracie. Cu aceasta scrisoare iti trimit o carte de cecuri, pentru ca tu sa poti cheltui cat iti doresti. Dar cand vei cheltui doi franci sa nu uiti ca al treilea nu e al tau. El trebuie sa ii apartina unui necunoscut care are nevoie de dansul. Iar tu vei gasi repede unul. Trebuie numai sa vrei sa-i vezi pe acesti saraci necunoscuti si ii vei intalni oriunde. Vorbesc cu tine despre bani, deoarece le-am cunoscut puterea demonica. Am petrecut foarte mult timp la circ si tot timpul imi faceam griji pentru echilibristi.
Si trebuie sa-ti spun ca oamenii cad cel mai des pe pamantul tare, mai des decat echilibristii de pe sarma. Poate la vreo petrecere selecta te va orbi stralucirea vreunui diamant. In acel moment el va deveni acea sarma periculoasa si caderea este inevitabila. Poate, intr-o buna zi, o sa te cucereasca chipul frumos al unui print. In acea zi vei deveni un echilibrist lipsit de experienta, iar acestia cad de fiecare data. Nu iti vinde inima pentru aur si bijuterii. Afla ca cel mai mare diamant este soarele. Din fericire el straluceste pentru toti. Cand va veni vremea si te vei indragosti, iubeste acea persoana din toata inima. I-am spus mamei tale sa-ti scrie despre asta. Ea intelege dragostea mai mult decat mine si e mai bine ca ea sa discute despre acest lucru cu tine. Munca iti este grea, stiu asta.
Corpul iti este acoperit de o bucata de matase. Pentru arta poti sa apari pe scena si dezbracat, dar sa te intorci de acolo trebuie nu numai sa fii imbracat, dar si mai curat. Sunt batran si poate, cuvintele mele suna amuzant. Dar, dupa mine, trupul tau dezgolit trebuie sa apartina numai celui care iti iubeste sufletul dezgolit. Nu este grav, daca parerea ta in aceasta privinta este veche de zece ani, adica apartine timpului trecut. Nu-ti fie frica, acesti zece ani nu te vor imbatrani. Dar oricum nu ar fi, vreau ca tu sa fii ultimul om care va deveni locuitor al insulei goilor. Stiu ca tatii si copiii duc o lupta vesnica. Lupta cu mine, cu gandurile mele, fetita mea! Nu iubesc copiii ascultatori. Si cum nu au cazut lacrimi din ochii mei pe aceasta scrisoare, vreau sa cred, ca aceasta noapte de Craciun este noaptea minunilor.
Imi doresc sa se intample o minune si tu sa intelegi cu adevarat ce am vrut sa-ti spun. Charlie a imbatranit, Geraldine. Mai devreme sau mai tarziu in loc de rochia alba de scena va trebui sa imbraci vesminte de doliu ca sa vii la mormantul meu. Acum nu vreau sa te intristez. Dar din vreme in vreme uita-te in oglinda – acolo vei vedea trasaturile mele. In venele tale curge sangele meu. Chiar si atunci cand sangele se va opri in vasele mele, vreau ca tu sa nu il uiti pe tatal tau. Nu am fost un inger, dar intotdeauna am incercat sa fiu om. Incearca si tu.
Astãzi, cânepa a devenit o culturã de nisã, fiind întinsã pe suprafete foarte reduse - putin peste 10.000 de hectare la nivelul întregii Uniuni Europene. Pentru comparatie, porumbul este plantat, numai în România, pe o suprafatã de peste 2,5 milioane de hectare. Multe cauze au stat la baza acestei pierderi în popularitate, însã cea mai nocivã, de departe, a fost interzicerea „în bloc“ si aproape peste tot în lume a culturilor de canabis, legiuitorii nefãcând diferenta între speciile de cânepã industrialã si cele cu continut ridicat de THC - substanta psihoactivã din marijuana.
Din 1993 încoace, majoritatea statelor au reparat aceastã anomalie. Nu si România, care abia în 2000 a introdus cânepa pe lista plantelor a cãror cultivare era controlatã strict de stat, fiind consideratã drog. La noi, decãderea acestei industrii a venit de la sine, asa cum s-a întâmplat cu atâtea alte sectoare. Cultivatorii care si-au reprimit terenurile dupã 1989 s-au îndreptat spre alt tip de culturi, considerate mai profitabile, sau pur si simplu le-au lãsat de izbeliste. Totusi, prevederea legalã amintitã mai sus a fost cea care a dat lovitura de gratie, iar atunci când autoritãtile au modificat-o, dupã câtiva ani, a fost prea târziu - cu atât mai mult cu cât, ulterior, subventiile agricole acordate în cazul acestei culturi s-au dovedit neatrãgãtoare. Din fericire, nu toatã lumea a fost de aceeasi pãrere.
Doi ingineri si un economist fãrã niciun fel de experientã în agriculturã (unul dintre ei, Dan Lãzãrescu, tocmai plecase din actionariatul Medicover) au înfiintat, în 2007, o companie de procesare a semintelor de cânepã (din care se fabricã uleiuri, suplimente nutritive, medicamente etc.).
Fabrica a fost înfiintatã la Salonta, în judetul Arad, în urma unei investitii de peste 1,5 milioane de euro.
De ce s-au limitat la procesarea semintelor si nu au fãcut pasul firesc spre cultivare sau procesarea tulpinilor? Potrivit Oanei Suciu, managing partner în cadrul Canah, „la început, pe când eram mai optimisti, eram decisi sã ne implicãm si în cultivare, sã nu ne limitãm la partea de procesare a semintei. Am cumpãrat deci echipamente de ultimã generatie, materia primã necesarã, am adus un specialist din Italia, urmând ca proprietarii terenurilor, localnicii, sã gestioneze culturile propriu-zise. Din pãcate, interesul lor era direct proportional cu investitia pe care o fãcuserã, deci tindea spre zero. Acum, cã avem o afacere solidã, atât de nisatã, nu mai are sens sã ne aventurãm într-un domeniu în care am dat chix o datã.“
În schimb, procesarea tulpinilor (utilizate în industria textilã si auto, între altele) rãmâne unul din obiectivele Canah. Depinde însã de dezvoltarea culturilor locale. Dupã cum povesteste Oana Suciu, „noi avem trei hectare în arendã, pe jumãtate din suprafatã se întinde fabrica, iar pe restul luãm în considerare dezvoltarea unei capacitãti de procesare a tulpinilor. Doar cã, pânã acum, nu ne-au reusit eforturile de impulsionare a cultivãrii în tarã, iar sã aduci tulpinele cu vaporul din China, asa cum procedãm cu semintele, nu renteazã, din cauza volumului prea mare. Pentru a ne lansa si pe acest segment, am avea nevoie de o culturã localizatã la maximum 100 de kilometri distantã.“
85% din productie, la export
În momentul de fatã, compania proceseazã circa 750 de tone de seminte si are venituri anuale de pânã la douã milioane de euro, cu o marjã de profit de 5%. Cifre ce indicã o afacere sãnãtoasã, neferitã însã, de-a lungul timpului, de greutãti majore. „În 2010 am fost foarte aproape de închiderea fabricii, însã, din fericire, ne-am revenit. An de an am mers la toate târgurile importante de profil din strãinãtate. Initial, nu eram convinsi cã aceasta este solutia, cu atât mai mult cu cât achitam câte 10.000 de euro pentru fiecare stand de prezentare. Totusi, eforturile au dat roade“, spune Oana Suciu. Asa se face cã, în momentul de fatã, 80%-85% din productia Canah merge la export, sub trei forme: produse marcã proprie, produse cu marca importatorilor sau vrac (aici înregistrându-se cea mai mare cerere). De ce nu existã în România o piatã de desfacere rentabilã? În cuvintele reprezentantei Canah, „în tarã nu avem decât doi distribuitori si câteva farmacii din afara marilor lanturi. Când ne-am început activitatea, am avut un contract cu un astfel de lant, însã ne-am dat seama repede cã nu poate merge - fiind vorba de produse noi pe piatã, omului trebuia sã i se explice ce si cum, ceea ce farmacistii nu pot face, fie pentru cã nu cunosc proprietãtile cânepei, fie pentru cã sunt presati de management sã vândã suplimente cât mai scumpe. În schimb, în magazinele naturiste vânzarea merge, probabil pentru cã, în general, vânzãtoarele de aici sunt sincer pasionate de acest tip de produse“.
Cerere este, dar ofertã - ioc
În ultimii ani, cânepa a început sã fie exploatatã mai degrabã pentru seminte, deci pentru uz alimentar, decât pentru fibrã. Astfel, potrivit unui studiu publicat luna trecutã, cererea anualã de seminte este, în Europa, de 12.000 de tone. Însã, din cauza lipsei culturilor, peste 50% din aceastã cantitate trebuie importatã din China. În cazul Canah, situatia este si mai radicalã. Potrivit Oanei Suciu, „noi importãm cam 90% din semintele ecologice, de aceea încurajãm dezvoltarea acestor culturi, pentru cã din start noi am achizitiona toatã productia de seminte“. Potrivit studiului sus-citat, utilizarea cânepei pentru uz uman are potentialul de a creste de peste o sutã de ori în urmãtorii ani.
74 de hectare de cânepã au fost cultivate anul trecut în România, de pe care s-au recoltat 33 de tone de plante, echivalentul a 1‰ din productia UE
45.000 de hectare erau cultivate cu cânepã în România anilor `80, tara noastrã fiind cel mai mare producãtor european de la acea vreme
